FRANCOIS LINTZ, MD

Dr François Lintz, MD, FEBOT, is a specialized Foot and Ankle Senior Consultant Surgeon in Clinique de l’Union, Toulouse, France. Dr Lintz was one of the founding member of the WBCT ISG (now International WBCT Society).

 

He is currently the President Elect and is responsible for the Internet Media for the International WBCT Society. As a researcher, he specializes in studying the impact of digital image analysis and machine learning on the potential of WBCT in Foot and Ankle Surgery.

CESAR DE CESAR NETTO, MD, PhD

Dr. Cesar de Cesar Netto is an Orthopaedic surgeon specialized in Foot and Ankle surgery. He will serve as an Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa, Carver College of Medicine, in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation. He had four Clinical Fellowships in Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgery: University of Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil (2010); University of Alabama at Birmingham - UAB, Birmingham, Alabama, US (2016-2017); Hospital for Special Surgery - HSS, New York, New York, US (2017-2018); and finally, at Medstar Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, US (2018-2019).

 

Dr. de Cesar Netto received a multitude of research awards, most recently for Best Research Project at the FLAMECIPP (Latin American Foot and Ankle Federation) Meeting 2018, as well as for Distinguished Research, European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS) Meeting 2018.

 

Dr. de Cesar Netto is a reviewer for:

Techniques in Foot and Ankle Surgery

 

He currently serves as Treasurer for the International WBCT Society. In his research, Dr. de Cesar Netto specializes in Foot and Ankle Surgery Disorders and Imaging of the Foot and Ankle, with focus on Flatfoot Deformity, Weightbearing Computed Tomography and Achilles Tendinopathy.

ARNE BURSSENS, MD

Dr Arne Burssens works at the department of Foot and Ankle, University of Ghent Belgium. He published different papers on hindfoot alignment and ankle instability using weightbearing CT.         

 

His main interest lies in different strategies to perform a 3D pre-operative planning.

 

In his role as Secretary of the International WBCT Society, he tries to link the members to the current events and projects of the Society.

SCOTT ELLIS, MD

Scott Ellis is an Associate Professor at the Hospital for Special Surgery in the Department of Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery.  He completed his medical school at the University of Johns Hopkins and then both his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery and fellowship in Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery. 

Dr. Ellis is the head of research for the department and oversees its patient registry.  He currently serves as the President of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery (AOFAS) Foundation and previously sat as a member-at-large on the AOFAS board.  His research interests in WB CT relate to its use to understanding the anatomy and bone alignment both before and after surgery in the Adult Acquired Flatfoot Deformity (AAFD) as well as hallux valgus.  He had his group use WB CT clinically for numerous pathologies in foot and ankle including trauma, deformity and arthritis.

ALEXEJ BARG, MD (1979 - 2022)

As a founding member, and President from 2019 to 2021, Prof. Barg dedicated a lot of time and passion to our society, contributing to many meetings, seminars, scientific studies, and our book. We all benefited from his teachings and lectures. Alexej was a giant scientific writer, reviewer, and editor.

But most of all, he was known to all, alongside his work ethics, for his kindness and deep friendship.

Prof. Dr. Alexandre Leme Godoy-Santos is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialized in Foot and Ankle surgery. He is the Chief of Foot & Ankle Service at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, University of São Paulo.

Tom Turmezei

Dr Tom Turmezei is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist in Norwich and an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of East Anglia, UK. He has a wide range of diagnostic and interventional clinical interests that include degenerative joint disease and spinal cement augmentation. 


His main research interests are in 3-D imaging analysis of bones and joints, through which he has developed novel imaging techniques such as joint space mapping and cartilage surface mapping, most recently working with weight bearing computed tomography (CT) at the knee. He is also the founding Chair of the Computed Tomography in Osteoarthritis Imaging (OCTA) Research group that promotes the use of CT imaging in osteoarthritis research, is on the Advisory Board from the International Society of Osteoarthritis Imaging, and is an editorial board member of the journal Osteoarthritis Imaging.

BAVORNRIT CHUCKPAIWONG,  MD

Dr. Bavornrit Chuckpaiwong or “Bank” is an Orthopaedic surgeon specialized in Foot and Ankle surgery. He serves as an Associate Professor at the department of the Orthopaedics Surgery and Rehabilitation, Siriraj Hospital  Mahidol University. He also serves department as a Chief of foot and ankle surgery and Chief of orthopaedic reseach.  In the past few years he was servered Thai Orthopaedics Foot and Ankle Society (THOFAS) as a president and he is currently a vice president of Asian Federation of the Foot and Ankle Surgeons (AFFAS) and will be a president in October 2019.


Dr. Chuckpaiwong received his medical degree from Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in 1998 and his board of orthopaedic surgery in 2003 from the same institute. He also received national board of family medicine and many of the international foot ankle surgery and sports medicine certificates. He completed his foot and ankle fellowship and research fellowship from multiple institutes including Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard medical school in Boston, Duke University Medical Center in Durham NC, USA. Dr. Chuckpaiwong also completed extra advance trauma and reconstructive surgery fellowships at Vittorio Emanuelle Ospedale/ Catania University, Italy and Liestal Kantonsspital/ Basel University Switzerland. 


Dr. Chuckpaiwong has special interest in foot and ankle surgery including foot and ankle reconstruction, deformity correction, sports injuries ankle joint replacement, minimally invasive surgery and innovative surgery in foot and ankle. Dr. Chuckpaiwong is also a member of the Siriraj Sports Medicine Service and is an Instructor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Siriraj hospital, Physical therapy school, Mahidol University and special lecturer for many medical institutes. He was a team physician for the national athletic team and the national swimming team. He currently serves as the Team Physician for Mahidol University. 


He has multiple publications in the Pubmed and Scopus database and had received many international research awards such as Nicola's foundation young researcher award, APOA/AOSSM Travelling fellow, EOA(Eastern Orthopaedic Association of United States) Resident/Fellow Travel Grant , Multimedia teaching award by Mahidol prince. Resident grants funding for biomechanics research, etc.

KRIS BUEDTS, MD

Kris Buedts is a Consultant Orthopedic and trauma surgeon and head of the foot and ankle Unit section, incorporated in the Orthopedic Department ZNA Middelheim Belgium. He is responsible for the Foot and Ankle Resident and Fellowship program within the hospital.

 

He is a fellowship trained foot and ankle surgeon. 


He is the honorary secretary of EFAS (European Foot and Ankle Society) associate Editor of Foot and Ankle Surgery Journal, and member of the Editorial Board of Foot and Ankle International Journal. He is a council member of BFAS (Belgian Foot and Ankle Society) and of the Belgian Board Certification program for Orthopedic Surgery. 


He is an active member of the International WBCT Society.

CHRIS COETZEE, MD

Board-certified orthopedic surgeon, J. Chris Coetzee earned his medical degree from the University of Pretoria School of Medicine in South Africa.  He completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Stellenbosch, located in Cape Town, South Africa, his trauma fellowship in Davos, Switzerland and a foot and ankle fellowship at the University of Washington and the Harborview Medical Center, in Seattle, WA, USA.

He is one of the Orthopedic Team Doctors for the Minnesota Vikings. He serves as a fellowship faculty member for the MOSMI/ Fairview Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship program, and will be a Faculty member for the upcoming Foot and Ankle Fellowship program.

He serves as President on the board for the American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS). He is an associate editor of the Foot and Ankle International Journal and also a member of the FAI Editorial Board, as well as reviewer to the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and several other orthopedic journals.  

He is a member of the AAOS CME committee ensuring ongoing education for all orthopedic surgeons. He also chaired the Foot and Ankle  Instructional Course committee of the AAOS.

His special orthopedic interests are foot and ankle reconstruction, trauma injuries and sports medicine.

He is a world-renowned surgeon who has been asked to lecture and teach in more than 20 countries on all continents.  He is a published author in numerous peer-reviewed journals on such topics as total ankle arthroplasties, talar osteochondral defects, lisfranc injuries and more. Current research interests include total ankle arthroplasties, ankle fusions and subtalar fusions.  Dr. Coetzee was named one of the top 23 Foot and Ankle surgeons in the US by Orthopedics Today in 2012, 2013, 2015 and has been nominated as a "Top Doc" by the Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine in 2013,2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
